It's taken a lot of hard work to make it look this easy.

We’ve been renting and leasing our managed internet appliances since 2014, and based in Los Angeles since 2017.

Finally, we’re offering our hardware for outright purchase with subscription. Buying a unit is definitely not for everyone. Like deciding to buy a private jet with a pilot on-call. That would seem crazy, unless you fly all the time, or need to be able to take off from anywhere at a moment’s notice. Then it would be crazy not to get the jet.

Here’s how to know if owning a unit is for your business, or whether you’re better off leasing or renting when you need seamless bonded internet that works.

1. If you can on-sell internet to your clients.

If you’re in production or managed services, owning a unit can introduce a new revenue source for your business, while ensuring your clients always get the internet service they need at a price that works with your brand and business.

You’re welcome to package PopUp WiFi services to include in your offering. We offer unlimited reconfigurations, network name changes and optimizations when you change locations. With your Ultimate subscription, you can add a custom CAPTIVATE page for only $199 per basic design to add value and a competitve advantage.

2. If downtime is money to your organization.

IT Managers in large organizations – we see you! Buying your own PopUp WiF fleet is like an insurance policy against last-minute unusual network calamities or requests – with a built-in labour force of network engineers who don’t need overtime pay.

Save labour resources with simple, fast set up and live management that means anyone can set up your unit on location, and be back online in minutes. PopUp WiFi can provide an instant internet backhaul connection to replace a fiber outage or to get a new premises connected at short notice.

3. If you're already a frequent PopUp WiFi-er.

If you’re finding yourself renting PopUp WiFi regularly, owning a unit could be a handy way to save time and expenditure – and never have to say goodbye to your units again.

This is extra helpful if you’re in events and often have last-minute requests. Having a unit on-hand means there’s no risk we’ll book out of inventory during peak seasons.

You can always rent additional units if your needs increase for certain jobs. We’ll make sure all your PopUp WiFi units make one seamless network.

Frequently Asked Questions

All our units work by combing together several different types of internet WAN using enterprise-grade bonding routers from Peplink. The units contain powerful 4x4 MIMO antennas and several modems that allow them to connect to multiple diverse 5G and LTE-A/4G cellular networks from Verizon, T Mobile and AT&T, all at the same time. This diversity of connection types provides enhanced reliability, because if one carrier fails, the others keep working, so the connection remains seamless.

It’s not essential, but where there are onsite internet connections available, like a fiber connection, a satellite dish or venue WiFi, our equipment can add those internet sources to the bonded cellular connection. This adds more redundancy to the setup, and importantly, consolidates all the networks so they run through our routers. This means during the event, producers can rely on PopUp WiFi to manage their whole network.

Definitely. Provided you are managing the deployment, ensure your unit is correctly set up and remain our point of contact, you're very welcome to bundle our services to on-sell. Events companies, ISPs, AV companies and IT consultancies generate excellent revenue through on-selling our services as a powerful and cost-effective alternative to in-house internet at many locations.

Yes! Sponsored WiFi offers an excellent revenue stream or point of difference compared with in-house internet offerings. Offer your clients the chance to customize their guest WiFi login screens at events and activations, from just $199 per standard login screen design and build. Data capture and payment gateway features are also available. Chat to our Solutions crew to find out more.

Yes, you sure can, but part of the PopUp WiFi service is full management of your networks, with dedicated network engineers making sure everything is running smoothly. We recommend that you get in touch with our techs to connect the onsite internet to your PopUp WiFi network, whether by plugging the onsite ethernet cable to the WAN port on the side of the unit, or via WiFi WAN (just give the network name and password to our techs and they’ll merge this source of internet wirelessly). This approach means that all the internet sources will be running through the top-of-the-line routers inside your PopUp WiFi unit/s, so if there are any outages on any of the connections, you will experience zero failures or have any downtime when switching between internet sources.
No. The PopUp WiFi secret sauce is in our powerful 24/7 live remote management. Since 2014, we’ve been refining our turnkey product so it can be set up by anyone, regardless of their technical skill. Our network engineers use our proprietary network management software “Ground Control” to log into your unit via the internet, monitoring and managing every aspect of the network remotely. This allows them to adjust and optimize the settings on the network in real time to respond to the fluctuating needs of events and productions over IP.
Just give us a call or a text any time, 24/7. Average response times are under one minute. You’ll find the number in your Slipstream dashboard, printed on your unit and the intro email we’ll send you right before your rental.

Unfortunately not. The cellular signals that our units rely on for the majority of our work do not reliably transmit through the ground. If you are planning an event that is below street level, we do have a solution called a “Can Phone Kit”. Just like the tin can phones we used to play with as children, the kits use two PopUp WiFi units connected together with an ethernet cable. One unit must sit at street level, 4’ - 10’ off the ground, somewhere it can “see” the outside world. The other unit will be set up in the space where you will be using the internet.

No, your unit will be shipping with 5G and LTE connections from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon included. All you need to add is power.

Our gear is powerful, but not magic. If there's no cell service available, consider plugging a satellite dish - or two - into your PopUp WiFi unit and we'll bond that WAN to any other available WAN and continue to manage the network for you.

Your Ultimate Support subscription gives you access to historic performance reports from OOKLA. Just email our Solutions crew with the exact street address and they will send you a cellular performance snapshot showing average speeds on the three major carriers from the past 12 months, which will allow you to establish a baseline bandwidth expectation.
