Event Overview

The Festival of the Arts, organized by Arts Council Oklahoma City, is a longstanding, citywide celebration that brings together community and creativity in the heart of downtown OKC. Since 1967, this free multi-day event has showcased a vibrant blend of visual art, live music and dance, diverse culinary experiences, and family-friendly activities. With over 140 juried artists, 100+ performers, and 22 international food vendors, the festival draws thousands and transforms Bicentennial Park into an inclusive, high-energy cultural hub.

What sets this event apart is the incredible coordination between a core team of just eight staff members and 2,500+ volunteers, delivering an event on a national scale with unique features like the Emerging Artist Tent, Creators Collective, and Festival Pro-Am Gallery.

To ensure seamless operations across this complex footprint, the team partnered with PopUp WiFi. The solution provided robust, high-speed connectivity for internal communications and managed over 150 point-of-sale terminals for artists, vendors, and beverage stalls. This stable network allowed volunteers to support vendors in real-time and helped keep operations smooth despite the challenges of a large, outdoor environment.

Producer’s Comments

“We reached out to PopUp WiFi because we knew that regular infrastructure wasn’t going to cut it for an event of this scale. With hundreds of point-of-sale systems relying on solid connectivity—and thousands of attendees—reliable internet wasn’t optional. It was essential.

PopUp WiFi delivered exactly what we needed: strong connectivity, easy setup, and outstanding support. Their team made it easy from the get-go, and when we had a few areas needing signal boosts, they jumped in quickly and fixed it. That responsiveness made all the difference.

Their system kept our team and volunteers connected and allowed us to support our vendors without missing a beat. Honestly, if the internet had gone down, it would’ve been catastrophic—lost sales, frustrated guests, and a logistical nightmare. But with PopUp WiFi, we didn’t have to worry.

To any colleague considering them, I’d say this: If you want peace of mind at your event, hire PopUp WiFi. They handle the tech so you can focus on the festival.”
