Event Overview

A Championship Meet Without a Hitch

Every summer, the South Coast Swim Conference Finals bring together six youth swim teams from across Orange County for a day-long championship meet. With over 500 athletes competing in individual and relay events, and more than 1,000 parents, coaches, volunteers, and staff in attendance, there’s no room for error.

“This is the biggest meet of the year for our athletes,” says Tony Obregon, Co-Chair of the Green Valley Swim Team. “It’s not just a competition—it’s a celebration of their progress and a major community event. Every detail matters.”

And one of those crucial details? Internet.

Why Connectivity Matters Poolside

Timing software, live-streamed results, fundraising apps, POS terminals, real-time scheduling updates, and digital communications between volunteers and staff all depend on a strong, stable internet connection. The problem? The venue didn’t have one.

“Our venue lacked reliable internet, and previous solutions had been inconsistent,” says Tony. “We needed something portable, dependable, and powerful enough to handle a high-traffic day with zero downtime.”

That’s where PopUp WiFi came in.

Smooth Racing, Smoother Ops

From the moment setup began, Tony and the Green Valley team felt the difference.

“PopUp WiFi gave us the confidence to focus on running a smooth event without worrying about internet failures,” Tony shares. “Thanks to the secure, high-speed connection, everything from real-time timing updates to volunteer communication ran flawlessly.”

The PopUp WiFi solution powered mission-critical systems across the event, including:

  • Race timing and live results displays

  • Multiple POS terminals for merchandise and refreshments

  • Media upload and editing for social and team channels

  • Fundraising and donation tools

  • General guest access and back-of-house communications

Without it, says Tony, “We would have experienced severe delays, errors in scoring, and a lot of frustration for swimmers and parents who rely on real-time updates.”

A Partner, Not Just a Provider

From the first enquiry to event day, the PopUp WiFi team made an impression.

“The team was responsive, helpful, and professional from the start. The setup was simple, the support was outstanding, and the service was flawless,” says Tony. “It’s one of the best investments we made for our event.”

His advice to other organizers?

“Please do it! PopUp WiFi is a game-changer. If you’re running a high-stakes event that depends on connectivity, this is the partner you need.”
