Event Overview

The week-long inaugural Bloodlines Interwoven Festival featured artist talks, workshops in traditional and contemporary music, evening-length concerts with world premieres by acclaimed composers, late-evening fireside music-making, and curated storytelling and discussion sessions. All were led by festival artistic director Kaoru Watanabe, a renowned instrumentalist and composer, and featured a multicultural collective of world-class musicians. As part of this initiative, the fifteen featured artists—whose work is informed by their diverse creative, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds—completed a months-long residency at Baryshnikov Arts in Manhattan, where they shared the stories of their ancestors, artistic process, and artistic vision in multiple “Gatherings,” in order to collectively create new musical compositions that drew from the interweaving of each other’s narratives. Baryshnikov Arts used PopUp WiFi to support the box office at the festival, as attendee check-in was held outdoors.

Producer’s Comments

We could not have functioned without PopUp WiFi. We were not in range of any other WiFi sources on the festival grounds, so PopUp WiFi was invaluable.
