Event Overview

The 10-hour long event featured 15+ sessions, including fireside chats and panel discussions. The team from Focal Point Productions live-streamed the event to YouTube and X, providing audio, video, lighting, live-streaming, with connectivity from PopUp WiFi. This is one of our company’s most complicated events. Getting into the U.S. Capital isn’t easy, so a lot of planning and coordination goes into logistics, set up, and crew. Our crew of 12 people worked a 14-hour show day, plus 6 hours of load in and set up the day before. We had to be quick and nimble as changes were coming the day before, morning of, and throughout the show.

The Forum bring together leaders from Silicon Valley and Capital Hill together to discuss AI and technology. This year’s forum brings together innovators and lawmakers to address these challenges. Speakers include Vinod Khosla, Founder, Khosla Ventures, Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO, Brian Schimpf, Anduril CEO, Josh Kushner, Thrive Capital Founder, Alex Karp, Palantir CEO, Ruth Porat, Google President, CIO, Keith Rabois, Managing Director, Khosla Ventures, Doug Burgum, Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, Senator Joni Ernst (IA), Senator Todd Young, (IN), Maj Gen Steve “Bucky” Butow, USAF, Military Deputy.

Producer’s Comments

“If the venues internet would have went out, the event would have collapsed. The 800+ guests, including 60 members of the media, wouldn’t have been able to register, and our multiple livestreams with thousands of viewers would have failed. For this event, we needed an insurance policy to provide a back up to the venue’s in house internet, which was problematic last year. We needed back ups to the back ups. And in some cases, we needed a primary internet solution. PopUp was our first and only option.

As soon as we turned each unit, we got a text message from tech support to check up on us. And a few times we had to reach out to support (through text) for help or questions. They were so quick, professional, and helpful. It’s hard to find tech support like that anywhere.

PopUp WiFi provided a solid internet connection to our primary live-streaming encoder. We also used this same unit to support file uploading. A second unit was provided to an external live podcasting team that was set up in a room with no hard line internet and poor wifi. This unit was their primary access to internet.

And a third unit was in the atrium/lobby for guests and registration.

Without PopUp WiFi, there’s a good chance one of those areas would have encountered technical issues and a failure. We all felt comfortable knowing we had back ups in place. In the big scheme of things with an event of this size and magnitude, PopUp WiFi is a cheap insurance policy to ensure a smooth and successful event.”
