🔧 Watch workshop maestros, Aiden and Andy meticulously handcrafting two PopUp WiFi Workhorse units for our fleet in the US – with special guest visit from Hobart’s very own event producer Michael Shields!
Every component placed inside the sturdy Pelican case, from Peplink routers to Aruba access point, has been thoughtfully selected and integrated by Aiden and Andy and taken over nine years to design, develop and test. The precision craftsmanship that goes into each unit ensures they’re built to outperform, combining the best in tech for your production internet needs. 💻🌐
It’s been all stations go in the workshop this week with Product Engineer Andy and Aiden smashing out two new Workhorses for our US fleet.
Here, Aiden is in the midst of attaching the GPS to the central bracket while Andy is tightening the SMA leads for the antennas. It’s a careful game of Tetris fitting every Peplink router, Aruba Access Point, high-gain antenna and custom 3D printed bracket inside the hard-as-nails Pelican case, and Andy and Aiden are the folk for the job, with 30+ years of experience combined in Engineering.
Keep your eyes peeled for more Workhorse build shots from the workshop next week 👀
Some version of this would be GOLD for RV-life folks. I've seen so much drama about people spending tons of time and $ trying to get some sort of rig cobbled together, especially for those who plan to make their RV Life Life all about being online!

Swipe to see a panoramic peek into the sweet set up in the BODi crew’s control room during their Super Workout Summit in San Antonio.
The BODi crew really did it all, pushing seamless live streams through to their translation teams in France and Spain which were then pushed back to over 5000 attendees and home viewers.
With 3 x Lites + 4 x Beasts under their belt, the BODi team could grab all the megabits needed for a seamless stream. The Beast features a top-of-the range enterprise-grade Peplink router and forward Error Correction feature to recover lost packets, meaning it had the grunt needed to deliver a 4K stream in the crowded 10 block event.
Manager of AV and Event Technology at BODi, Abraham Domingo said this about his experience using PopUp WiFi:
“In addition to streaming, we partnered with Interactio who did the translations for our content. We were pushing audio and video over to our translators in France and Spain and they would translate and then push that back through the app on attendees phones. The connection back and forth with them was so strong and we had no problems with the stream!”
Well done to Abe and his team for pulling off such a huge event!
Get your ears around this ASMR Beast set up – the symphony of connectivity that gets your WiFi up and running in under a minute. That satisfying clunk as you place it above waist height, the crackle of the Velcro and the gentle hum of the unit powering up as the green light flicks on are music to our techs ears and all part of the simple plug’n’play set up.
Don’t worry, all units shipped in the US feature a standard US three pin plug.
Pro tip: For an extra satisfying set up ASMR step, why not snap on a battery to give your unit an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
Another rare glimpse of CEO and Co-Founder Nina, here to introduce the newest product in our 2024 Squad, The PopUp WiFi Workhorse!
Solid and reliable, The Workhorse is built to be your trusted production WiFi solution for most professional use cases. The Workhorse seamlessly bonds 2 x 5G and 2 x LTE-A cellular connections from the three major national carriers. With up to 100 connections and 100’ radius in any direction, The Workhorse is perfect for guest connections, connecting production team devices and bar or vendor POS.
The Workhorse includes 1 x battery port for UPS capabilities or WiFi on-the-go so you can get your connection on the road. With 1 x LAN port and 1 x WAN port, you can hardline any device or switch and bond any onsite connection to the cellular pool. That’s ✨ magic ✨
From battery integration to fully customisable network names and passwords, the 2024 range has all the ingredients to make your next event magic. And with 5Genius inside every case bonding from three major carriers, Aruba Access Points and ultra fast Peplink routers, the real magic happens under each Pelican Products case lid.
Over the coming months, we’ll share all the reasons why the 2024 range is magic and how each magical feature has been meticulously designed for your event needs. That’s the PopUp WiFi magic.
Behind the scenes peek into our (somewhat tidy) workshop!
It was such a treat having the whole team in our Hobart workshop for a week of training, meetings, unit building and good times. The PopUp WiFi team hails from right across Australasia, including Emily and Kieren who flew in from Melbourne and New Zealand respectively. Chief Technical Officer Linden also couldn’t resist flying in from Sydney to help Nina, Andrew and Em to train new recruit Kieren.
We absolutely love having our PopUp WiFi family in Hobart and can’t wait to get the team back together again soon!
Kieren joined us this week in his new role as Solutions Architect, working alongside Aiden and Andrew in the workshop and learning the ropes in our quoting and technical software systems. Kieren comes to us with a background in electrical engineering, a passion for photography and an insatiable hunger for adventure sports. We first met Kieren while he was working onsite as crew and media at music festivals across Tasmania and were taken by his warmth, drive and genuine interest in people and events. Welcome, Kieren! We’re beyond thrilled to have you in our crew.
